ELAN Posted April 11, 2019 Share #21 Posted April 11, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M10 is wonderful, here's my list to make it even better: - option to light framelines green when camera is level. - internal memory, just like the Q2. - remove screen’s plastic frame - it doesn’t belong on such a polished design! - reduce weight but keep top/bottom plates brass. keep the baseplate as-is. - faster wifi connection and downloads. - 36MP or 24MP. I don’t want 80 MB files like the Q2. - keep the same battery so M10M and M11 can share batteries. - optional top script instead of red dot on day one.

Reciprocity Posted April 14, 2019 Share #23 Posted April 14, 2019 (edited) An M11 that might get my buy in...or in this case it might be called an M11EV: 1. An electronic and therefore silent shutter. When I use it in candid roles, people start looking at the M10 after the second frame, it’s a harsh noise. It’s also a bit frustrating that Leica has not started the upgrade service yet. 2. A much better pattern type meter. Unlike any other camera I have ever used, the M10 heavily underexposes at the slightest hint of a blown out background, often so bad that no amount of exposure comp can fix it. 3. OVF/EVF hybrid. I shoot a lot of black and white with the M10 and twin Z6’s in my editorial work now, seeing it live in the Z6 is mind blowing effectiveness from a creative standpoint. 4. M10 ISO 6400 noise level at ISO 25,000 in M11, if needed to accomplish, keep it at 24MP. I love ISO 10,000 on the M10 so even one stop of improvement would be a stunner for digging deep and rich light out of darkness. I get great joy out of using my M10 and it is on a job tomorrow, I almost feel naked without it. So as annoying as it might be to hear this and I won’t go on about it..the photos I am getting from a combo like the Z6 and the 50mm 1.8S are just flooring my clients, truly impressive visual outcomes. In order for me to continue to justify using my M10 in heavy roles, I need that damn shutter upgraded. In the M11 the shutter really ought to have an option for it to be silenced, Leica can’t avoid this anymore. It really does make a superlative difference in rendering the candid world. I’m sure they know this and I therefore look forward to the M11. Edited April 14, 2019 by Reciprocity
GT2RS Posted April 18, 2019 Share #24 Posted April 18, 2019 1. Minimum 36MP. 24 is the only reason I didn't buy M10-P. Not ideal for big prints. 2. No EVF. 3. Weight reduction: 600g (Optional) 4. OLED display would be nice. (Optional) That's it. M10-P is near perfect tbh. Just needs an updated sensor/MP count.

This one already exists. I just went through the process. My M10 had a row of dead pixels so I sent an unprocessed DNG to technicians at Leica AG. Two days later they emailed me a firmware update which I installed and eliminated the problem. Edited April 18, 2019 by fotografr

fotografr Posted April 18, 2019 Share #27 Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) My wish list is short and very minor: --Quiet shutter just like the M10-P, although the current M10 shutter doesn't bother me. --Lose the video. I just ignore that it's there, so it's no big deal either way. --24MP is just fine. --Use slots through the top plate for strap attachment (like the SL). Ever since having a lug come off (long time ago) while carrying my M6 with a 75mm Summilux, I've been nervous about relying on the strap lugs with any heavy lens attached. It seems to me this would be a very easy design element to implement. Edited April 25, 2019 by fotografr

That sounds like a considerable improvement over my M9Monochrom which needed to physically go back to Leica when it had a hot, constant white, pixel. What happens next time a firmware update is released, e.g, when new lenses profiles are added, are you going to need another custom firmware? Canon cameras, I have read, do this pixel remapping in the camera during the Manual Sensor Cleaning function, which sounds very convenient. There was no indication I'd need a custom firmware update but they were so fast with this fix I wouldn't even worry about it. The Canon system must be fairly new and sounds ideal. I used Canons up through the 5D MkII and had to send them in twice for dead pixels. They were VERY fast repairs, however.

jplomley Posted April 18, 2019 Share #35 Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) Keep the M10 in its current form factor, its absolutely perfect. Add a 36MP sensor and IBIS, and thats all thats needed IMHO. I have a pair of M10's and it's my best M experience yet, they just nailed everything in this model IMHO. Edited April 18, 2019 by jplomley

Good luck adding IBIS while keeping the same form factor (size/weight- wise). Jeff 1

cp995 Posted April 19, 2019 Share #39 Posted April 19, 2019 (edited) My one and only wish would be the elctronic shutter to avoid use of ND Filters. Everything else is fine for me. So I'm surely not a potential M11 customer Edited April 19, 2019 by cp995
