Is that a challenge?

I think what EGOR has to say, and demonstrates so clearly, is very sound.

he says  The M246 will absolutely provide me with more of a technical, tactile and emotional advantage than any camera I already own

The main problem here is the word emotional ... it says it all

Been trying this since the seventies, to no avail unfortunately. Silver Efex allows me to use color filters in a way i never suspected before. Quite a game changer to me. YMMV.

I understand that. Use what fits you best.

But I do not see the benefit to dismiss other specialised tools. M Monochrom + Orange filter is gorgeous.

By the way, Leica announced its intention to produce RYYB (yes yellow) cameras instead of RGGB one. Yellow will gather twice the light of green. For what is worth Monochrom is a WWWW (for white) camera. So no guess work for him

Bayer is not ideal at all. Just look at how hard it is to get nice reds. The least sensitive colour. For red flowers macro shots, film is the way to go.

Try the Monochrom once to be really convinced. But please do not use Silver Efex, results are bad with it.

Not my experience. I've had excellent results with Silver Efex Pro II. Here are a couple of examples from the MM1 using Silver Efex.

Since this thread seems to have become a "monochrom vs rgb" debate, the very best discussion and comparison of the M9 Monochrom vs the M246 Monochrom vs the M240 was written by EGOR (Gregory Simpson) back in 2015 or so:

Sensors and Sensibility : The Leica M (246) Monochrom

Sentences and Sensibility: Leica’s M (246) Pt. 2

I think what EGOR has to say, and demonstrates so clearly, is very sound. If I'd actually gotten the M246 as I had planned, I'm sure I'd have loved it. But it didn't happen, my needs have moved on in other directions, I'm completely satisfied with what my current equipment does with respect to producing B&W photographs, and nothing anyone else has said makes the slightest bit of difference to my feelings on this subject any more.

I've got a roll of HP5 in my "new to me" Fuji GS645S. I suspect that will be my Monochrom for the foreseeable future. :D

First test roll done and processed. Quick-scanned with Film Lab and my iPhone 8 Plus so I could post images quickly ... Those big negatives look great! I have the full rez CL-made scans in my archive ready to be rendered now too, but these were good enough for web viewing! Anyone want to see them, just check my Instagram (godfreydigiorgi) or Flickr (GDGPhoto) accounts. :)

I definitely need a light green, yellow, and orange filter for this camera and general B&W photography; can't get the skin and foliage tones I want without them. The lens takes a very common 49mm filter so I might even have them in my junk drawer of miscellaneous filter stuff. They mean that 400 speed film is actual ISO 64 to 200, depending on which filter is fitted... so much for the speed gain of a Monochrom sensor. :)

AFAIK it was Huawei for Leica-lensed smartphones, not Leica cameras.

I agree with Brent - Silver Efex Pro works well with Monochrom files, in my experience.  It does help, though, to choose the right filter.  I also agree with Nicci (to an extent) - when the Monnochrom was first released, I thought it was a daft idea.  Being able to adjust colour channels to produce B&W images from colour files just seemed to be a better idea.  Then I started playing with Jono's China images and I was hooked.

Great camera, particularly with the APO-Summicron-M 50mm lens ...
