Q Sensor Issue?

Recommended Posts

Hey folks - I just purchased a secondhand Q on eBay. It arrived today and I've been really enjoying the feel after shooting with a 240 over the last many years.

But when I started seeing the images in Lightroom my heart sank.

Can you take a look at this and tell me what I'm seeing here? Looks like the sensor is corrupted somehow?

Thank you!

Those are all very uniform in their general shape I believe they are parachutes

Agreed.   Expand the image and I can see some chords.  It’s very easy to clarify whether there’s a fault on the sensor.  Just take one more image and check for similar artefacts.

however, the darker artefacts on the left may indicate a different problem.  If they are still present on a new image, then yes, return the camera.

i think they might be Leica parachutes being tested for remote delivery of Q2 to remote dealerships

please let us know the outcome. . 😊

I would attempt to take a clear blue sky photo at f/8 then take that image and the camera and return immediately to where you purchased it. I do not ever remember seeing any artifacts like you're showing previously with a Q. Dust spots yes, but not "parachutes". The Q should not have any artifacts like you're seeing. Good luck. Please inform us on the forum of any discoveries as to what is going on if you learn anything. Otherwise, find another Q.
