Using UV/IR filter

Waiting for my used 11-23mm lens to arrive I bought by mistake a Leica UV/IR filter thinking it was just a UV filter to keep on the lens. May be a stupid question, but you don't know what you don't know, can I use the UV/IR filter in the same way as a UV filter without any colour cast to my photos.

Any filter you put in front of a lens 'could' affect the image but it is unlikely to do it in such a dramatic way unless it is a very cheap one (I doubt you'd buy a cheap filter for a £1200+ lens).

UV - ultra violet IR - infrared, these 2 light waves will be blocked. Personally I never use a filter.
