ruskkyle Posted March 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I need to get hold of one or two TL/SL primes for a project and am finding it impossible to find any UK or London based rental options. Surprised there is not more of a demand for this. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Advertisement Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Hi ruskkyle, Take a look here London TL lens rental. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted March 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 22, 2019 Sorry, I can't help you. Clearly there is insufficient demand to justify such a service. Can you find a workaround using your existing assets?
Dippy Posted March 23, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2019 Have you tried WEX? They have SL rentals though they are only listing one lens at the moment it might be worth a try https://rental.wexphotovideo.com/leica-vario-elmarit-sl-24-90mm-f28-4-asph Does it have to be a Leica lens? Maybe an adapted lens would suit your needs.
ruskkyle Posted March 25, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted March 25, 2019 Thanks Dippy, this is who I’ve gone with. Picked up the 24-90 SL which is the only one they have. Will do the job but looks a little silly! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! wda Posted March 26, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 26, 2019 The lens needs its own tripod bush. It does appear to be an impractical combination. The standard zoom designed for the CL is a better solution, using higher ISOs to compensate for slower initial aperture.
ruskkyle Posted March 26, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Portraits shoot was today and went well. As I said, would’ve preferred to get my hands on an L mount prime like the 35 TL or 50 SL but tbh I enjoyed the flexibility of this zoom. And the OIS is nice to have on a set-up this heavy! Side note - i found the zoom action to be unfeasibly stiff, so much so that there was quite a bit of play between the camera & lens when zooming. Not ideal.
