Magnus_L_Andersson Posted March 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Friends, waiting for German offer on how to deal with my second corroded sensor, but read something about differences between version 52 and 53 with the latter not being as good as the first. Anyone who can confirm or elaborate on this? regards, Magnus

Luke_Miller Posted March 18, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2019 On Sean Reid's subscription site ReidReviews, he mentions that the only differences he sees are improved IR filtration and a slight sharpness improvement in the re-designed sensor. colint544 Posted March 19, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2019 Leica very kindly replaced - free of charge - the original sensor of my 2012 M Monochrom with the all-new version. That was in April 2016. I shot a lot of pictures both before and after the sensor replacement. I simply cannot see a difference.

I had the same experience. Initially, I thought Leica had used the original type of sensor in the replacement for my camera, but checking its system information revealed that they used the new type. Without this internally generated report, I could not tell.
