Price of used Q will skydive to sub US $2500

Recommended Posts

Time will tell. The Q is not a rare camera though. The most sold Leica in the last 4 years. In the same magnitude as Leica M3 and M6 : data from Leica representatives.

So we can estimate its sales around 200K units. Far more than any digital Leicas. Maybe even more than all digital M combined.

That's why Leica is really nervous to duplicate this success with a very nice updated Q2. They are now too Q line dependant.

Precisely the reason why I don't believe the hype that Q1 is being offloaded quickly by owners and that its price will "skydive". People see 50 or even 100 Leica Q for sale and they start to panic "OMG the Leica Q is depreciating fast" thus feeding the internet hype. 🙄 They forget that the number of Leica Q for sale is a very very tiny proportion of the actual number of Leica sold.

Those suffering with GAS or GOS will sell their Q1 cheap so that they can get their hands on a Q2 (although as jaapv says how much they will make use of the extra features remains to be seen). There's some people out there that have listed their Q1 for £1700😱. I mean, if nothing else, that is disrespectful to the Q.

So the price might go down for a short period of time but it certainly aint going to stay that low for that long.
