erl Posted July 24, 2007 Share #21 Posted July 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) first one is horribly soft/non-focusednot a good picture at all imo Richard, you may benefit from doing a little research on the virtues of the Noctilux. That first pic is an illustration of what is so attractive to the afficianados. VERY selective focus at f1.0. Not everyones cup of tea of course, but quite legitimate, and skilful when accomplished. It is a great way to tidy up otherwise messy pics for example.
Advertisement Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Hi erl, Take a look here Please post some Noctilux F1 Shots. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gwelland Posted July 24, 2007 Share #22 Posted July 24, 2007 Aha! That's ok then. There'll be trouble if I hear anything bad about the cute puppy shot!
Jamie Roberts Posted July 24, 2007 Share #23 Posted July 24, 2007 OK, here's a Noctilux at f1.0 very early in the morning in Vegas at Bellagio, in the butterfly exhibit. I love the Noctilux and have ordered one. This is also one of the creepiest pix I've ever shot, though I didn't see the creep factor till I actually got it processed on the computer. IOW, the Nocti sees stuff I don't, sometimes, but that's f1,0 ISO 640 M8 (and, with f1.0, 1/2000 s... which is wild in that light!) Welcome, dear visitor! erl Posted July 24, 2007 Share #24 Posted July 24, 2007 That's a great shot Jamie. It reminds me of one I did last year, with the same surprise content, seen after processing. I will post some later. Got some 16"x20" to process right now.

Iron Flatline Posted July 24, 2007 Share #26 Posted July 24, 2007 More... sorry, M8 + Noctilux has really become the foundation of my photography. But I have a long way to go till I shoot like Tommy. Wow dude, you must be the first person I have ever added on Flickr. Another one from "my" bar My wife, at dinner The last man in LA without a mobile phone Seagulls in winter in LA (this really shows the power of the M8 with the Noctilux, at 1/8000th wide open on a sunny day)

carstenw Posted July 24, 2007 Share #29 Posted July 24, 2007 Carstenw, You have a beautiful daughter (?) and a great lens. I know many painters who would rush out to get both the M8 and ask to lend your daughter as well... ;-) Thanks Thorsten, but both girl and lens are borrowed. My own Noctilux comes in late fall, and my own daughter, well who knows I take care of this one twice a week. She is great fun and very active. Guest sirvine Posted July 24, 2007 Share #36 Posted July 24, 2007 So dreamy. What's with all the fake Nocti listings suddenly on eBay with buy it now price at US$1200?
AGeoJO Posted July 24, 2007 Share #37 Posted July 24, 2007 Just for kick - this is another image taken with an M6 to show the flare resistance of this lens even at f/1.0. The focus point is her left eye. The film used is lowly Kodak Gold 200, processed by Costco in an hour and transferred onto a CD as JPG images. Costco even managed to scratch the negative from the beginning until the end of the roll .
gwelland Posted July 24, 2007 Share #38 Posted July 24, 2007 So dreamy. What's with all the fake Nocti listings suddenly on eBay with buy it now price at US$1200? Scammers troll eBay looking for high price items that are attractive to punters. It used to happen with digital backs and Canon 1Ds IIs as well. Some of these folks have a mass upload of rogue auctions that they'll upload into a hijacked eBayaccount, even though they know they may only be online for a few hours before discovery. It only takes one sucker going for a Nocti at $1200 or a Plasma TV or ... sending cash via Western Union to make it worthwhile. There are unfortunately a lot of gullable people out there. This thread is the equivalent to lens lust pornography ... it's a good job I don't have a pile of cash tucked down the back of the sofa at the moment otherwise this viral marketing for Leica would have me spending more serious $$$$ on a Nocti! Hookeye Posted July 24, 2007 Share #40 Posted July 24, 2007 Wow, Tim. That second portrait, the one of the girl in the blue singlet - just knocked me off my feet. Well done all three of you: Girl, Tim , Noctilux!
