Good Morning...long time member here that has owned an M8 since 2008 but have been very quiet over the years as discussions moved on to newer models.

Well, I have finally made the leap and purchased an M10 and must say that it is quite an improvement. The camera is used but appears nearly brand new and had been advertised with approximately 5,500 shutter actuations. Being the curious sort I did check the shutter count via Photoshop File Info and this is the unique ID hex code on the last shot from the camera:

4E9ED52D69C67E5E137DB0

Using and on-line hex to base 10 converter, that works out to be on the order of 95046280263087030013230512 shutter actuations. Being a skeptical sort, I doubted that even Leica engineering could produce such a robust shutter mechanism. The camera has the latest firmware (2.6.5) and appears to be functional in all other aspects.

So my question is, has anyone else run into such an issue and if so, how was it solved?

I think LiveView made this technique obsolete.

That does make some sense although I would argue that accessing LV does in fact actuate the shutter as does sensor cleaning....

Yes, the unhashed version seems to be available available over the WiFi link. I will put a new sw release out next week that can display this.

It is not terribly useful as it only counts number of images, not shutter actuations. Its main value is so that I can tell you that I shot ~11000 images in a year of owning the camera - only to delete around about 2/3 of them 😂
