dau Posted February 26, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2019 Even stranger: I can see the orange banner, too. BTW, is "banner" a synonym for one that bans, i.e. a moderator?
andybarton Posted February 26, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 26, 2019 There are no restrictions on your account, so that’s strange. PM Luf Admin

andybarton Posted February 28, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 28, 2019 No, it's a very important announcement from Andreas that we all need to read. 2

If it’s official why does it look like something nasty to avoid?

adan Posted March 3, 2019 Share #11 Posted March 3, 2019 Andreas has temporarily substituted that banner for any images on the forum, in order to show how - damaged - the forum would become under proposed EU copyright regs that would make it onerous to the point of impossibility to post pictures here (essentially, Andreas would have to personally verify each and every single image posted to insure it does not violate someone's copyright). It is basically a "this is how bad it would get" demonstration of how an "imageless" forum would look if the proposed regs are put into effect. Those of us outside the EU can only offer moral support, and put up with it for a day (Sunday, March 3, European Time 12:00 am to 11:59 pm) - only EU citizens can actually influence the proposed regs.

Thanks, Adan. That's very helpful. I think I can survive a day for this worthy cause.
adan Posted March 3, 2019 Share #13 Posted March 3, 2019 See the announcement in the gray box attached to the "new post" box below vvvvvvvv - For one day (3/3/2019) Andreas is temporaily barring the showing of pictures here, to demonstrate how a proposed EU regulation to protect copyright would make it, practically speaking, impossible for the site to allow pictures in the future (too much working affirmatively guaranteeing every image has been placed here by the copyright owners, meaning us). Pretty much killing this forum forever. Those of us not in the EU can offer moral support, but not practical support, since it is an EU political problem.
