Mark II Posted March 1, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Before I destroy a couple of rolls when shooting, does anyone know if the optical DX code reader in the M7 will cause problems with SFX200 (or any other IR sensitive) film? Advertisement Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Hi Mark II, Take a look here M7 optical DX reader and Ilford SFX200. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pico Posted March 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2019 When in doubt of the DX reader, set the ISO manually using the dial on the back.
Michael Geschlecht Posted March 1, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2019 Hello Mark, Are you asking whether or not the Optical Reading Device will effect the film when it is reading the information on those little boxes on the side of the film cartridge? Best Regards, Michael

Best Regards, Michael I think the question pertains to if the ORD will pick up the right DX information to set the right ISO to meter with. I don't think so. I think the OP is asking whether the optical DX reading diodes (or wherever they are called) will emit IR and fog the film. wattsy Posted March 2, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2019 A quick google on the subject seems to result in mostly speculative opinion that the optical DX reader will probably fog IR film. Ken Rockwell says it definitely will so therefore it must be true. 😀
Mark II Posted March 3, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted March 3, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I always set the ISO manually, so the film speed should be fine. The worry is if the IR LEDs in the DX reader will cause any fogging - I could not find a definitive answer via google, but I am sure someone must have used this film in an M7!
