kepstein Posted February 26, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I lost it again! I need the rubber rectangular lens cap for my LEICA SUMMICRON-M 1:2/35 mm ASPH. I can't find them anywhere. Thanks, Ken
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Hi kepstein, Take a look here LEICA SUMMICRON-M 1:2/35 mm ASPH Lens Cap. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted February 26, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2019 I think Leica have discontinued the rubber cap (and the rest of the plastic lens cap if I recall correctly). There was a thread about this a few months ago.
james.liam Posted February 26, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Check with B&H or Adorama in New York. If anyone has leftovers, it’s them or perhaps one of the larger Leica Stores Edited February 27, 2019 by james.liam
james.liam Posted February 27, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2019 Out of curiosity, I checked Adorama, B&H and Popflash (LA) and no cap in inventory. Popflash will sell you the hood, sans cap.
lct Posted February 27, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 27, 2019 I would forget those hood caps and use a filter or nothing to replace them. My ones remain in the box or the bag but it's just me.
LeicaFan1 Posted February 27, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 27, 2019 Check https://www.ffordes.com/p/14043/lenscamera-caps/hood-cover-for-352-2828-14043 in Scotland.

Ronazle Posted February 27, 2019 Share #8 Posted February 27, 2019 I'm sorry to be such a grump but this is another example of the weak side of Leica customer support. You would think it was profitable to sell them at the $40 plus price. This is failed support for two ASPH lenses which were a little pricey. lct Posted February 27, 2019 Share #9 Posted February 27, 2019 Seems like the 12526 hood and its 14043 hood cap were still on some Leica price lists in 2018 (link). Those interested may wish to ask Wetzlar if those items are discontinued.https://store.leica-camera.jp/pdf/New_Price_List_2018May.pdf

The previous version of the Summicron ASPH was a mainstay of the range for years and will be owned by many users. It was also a current lens as recently as only two or three years ago. If it is true that Leica have discontinued the hood and hood cap as available spare parts that represents pretty shoddy support.
Michael Geschlecht Posted February 27, 2019 Share #11 Posted February 27, 2019 Hello Ian, Exactly 10,000 Posts. Congratulations. By the way, doesn't this 1st version of the lens also take that nifty 12585 lens shade? As well as its slightly less flare protecting sibling the 12504? Which will (Possibly as a consolation for not being quite as efficient at reducing flare.) hold a series VII filter in its divisible structure. Best Regards, Michael
