Surfheart Posted February 19, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a Q recently and I was surprised while I was setting it up that I couldn't seem to get a realtime exposure preview through the EVF or the LCD. I was was in full manual mode but if I changed the aperture, ISO and or shutter, the image in the EVF did not change. I though this very strange for a mirrorless camera as this is one of the benefits I have enjoyed with my Fuji cameras. The exposure preview seems to work when the shutter is half pressed but at this point I need to let go the shutter, make adjustments to my exposure and then half press again to check. My camera was on firmware 2.0 which I upgraded to 3.0. This gave me the exposure preview menu option. Setting this to PASM gave me realtime exposure preview but I'm stunned that the camera was available for so long and did not have this feature. Or am I missing something? Leica Guy Posted February 19, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) Go to Main Menu. Exposure Preview. Set to P-A-S-M. That should work as you want. I cannot fully recall, but I think the feature has been in the camera from day 1. Edited February 19, 2019 by Infiniumguy

That option only appeared with firmware 3.0 I think, at least it wasn't there when I setup my camera on firmware

HighlandK Posted February 19, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 19, 2019 When I have mine set in full manual mode, including manual ISO it is because I am using studio flash and I would get a very dark if not black image if the EVF was providing exposure preview. Mine doesn’t give exposure preview in that situation. Perhaps I have set something else in the menu to cancel exposure preview in full manual? HighlandK Posted February 19, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 19, 2019 Answered my own question! I have it set to P-A-S and not P-A-S-M.
sidhorn Posted February 20, 2019 Share #7 Posted February 20, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Camera Set to P-A-S-M is correct. However, ISO must not be in auto. You must set a specific ISO value
