airscrew Posted February 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2019 I will buy this for my CL (if it works on it) to be used together with 11-23.
Jeff S Posted February 8, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 8, 2019 (edited) Not labeled a ‘Pro’ or ‘Leica Certified’ lens like the new Panasonic 70-200. Evidently, more consumer grade, so it will be interesting to understand actual performance characteristics, both optically and in terms of weather sealing. But smaller and lighter than the Leica SL 24-90, and still with OIS. Jeff Edited February 8, 2019 by Jeff S
Alistairm Posted February 11, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2019 The magnification ratio makes it a fascinating potential do it all travel/walk around lens, albeit on the slow side. Time will tell, but I like the proposal of @airscrew to use it on the CL, as if the lens isn’t quite up to the standards we expect from Leica, it will likely be weakest in the corners, so the crop factor might eliminate the worst bits!

Interesting, providing focal length equivalent of 36mm at wide end and a beast of a lens on compact CL body is acceptable that might work. I thought there are already some good native Crop factor lenses for CL, so why this one, price?

I agree that it might be an interesting all-purpose (travel) lens.
BCMielke Posted March 2, 2019 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2019 I wonder if the OIS will work on the CL? If so that would make for a nice kit on the CL for travel. 11-23 and the 24-105. That about covers it.

If so that would make for a nice kit on the CL for travel. 11-23 and the 24-105. That about covers it. It works perfectly (OIS). I use my CL with the 11-23 and the Pana 24-105. In my mind the Pana 24-105 allows a much better pic-quality than the Leica 18-56. The biggest German test-Magazin COLORFOTO testet both lenses in may and june 2019. They have a 100 points scale, but no lens ever reached 100 points. They tested the quality and gave 58,5 points to the Leica and 90,5 points to the Pana. In my practice I wouldn`t see such a big difference but whenever I compare, the Pana -Pics are really better. On the other hand the weight of the Pana is about 400 Gramm (the weight of 4 chocolates) higher and it is longer. The Pana has OIS, nearly macro, constant f:4 and I can use it on a SL, too. It is made even for a Pana S1R with full frame and 48 MP, so a CL can`t cross the quality border of this lens. I nearly never use my 18-56 since I have the Pana. The only lens I use even more often is my Leica 11-23 TL, this is in my opinion the perfect lens for a CL.
