 Hello I currently have a Leica TL2 using a adaptor for a M mount lens .

I want to get a auto focus lens that will work with the TL2,  I just don’t want to spend 1,500.00+  At the moment.

Do I have any options ?

You could look at used lenses listed by Leica dealers. A well-known Manchester dealer in the UK has a standard zoom for £795 and an 18mm prime lens for £895. It only took me seconds to find these examples.

I guess the question I really have is there any lens brands out that away from Leica that I can use autofocus with

Not at present , but you’ll find out more if you google ‘L mount alliance’

I got 2 used lenses for my TL2, both at reasonable prices on eBay.

Summilux-TL 35 f/1.4 ASPH - $1500 USD

and Vario-Elmar-TL 18–56 f/3.5–5.6 ASPH -  $995 USD

Both are in perfect condition.  … Basically, 2 for the price of one..

Depending on the objective you want, there are new ones below € 1,500.

I have the 12586 lens hood for the 50mm f1.4 pre-asph lens. The unit unscrews to accept filters (I assume). What series size filters do I need and how are they held in place? I understand that I need to use a special slim 43mm filter if I want to hood to fit, but I'd rather just use drop in filters if that is possible. Why else would the hood unscrew into two parts otherwise?
      Thanks

After lots of discussion about future of APS-C. How many of you think that the real reason for CL/TL being held back is the lack of native lenses ?

      A little history :
      - 2014 : T was released with two lenses : 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6 & 23mm f/2.0
      - 2015 : Then two more with 11-23mm f/3.5-4.5 & 55-135mm f/3.5-4.5
      - 2016 : Leica release the only two made in Germany TL lenses : 35mm f/1.4 & macro 60mm f/2.8
      - 2017 : CL was released with 18mm f/2.8 pancake lens
Leica were on a good track, 1 or 2 TL lenses per year. But after 2017 ? Nothing happened at all !
We should have 10 to 14 lenses by now. Not 7.

Only 1 fast lens. Only a trinity of slow zoom lenses. Only 2 compact prime lenses.
None of them have OIS. None of the bodies have IBIS.
No portrait lens, aka equivalent to fast 85/90mm or 70-200mm f/2.8.
No fast wide angle. ex : equivalent to fast 18/21mm.
These lens cannot be replaced with any adapted M and R lenses.

So what’s the problem here ? Leica may think that APS-C line do not sell well enough. So they stop releasing new lenses  ? It is a kind a vicious cercle. But  no new lens = death of the system.
Just like they left the S line died by releasing only bare minimum body upgrade and no new lenses for half a decade.

So what do you think about this situation ?

Curious as to if this is lens haze or not . Have not noticed anything in the photographs . Thanks

Do L-Mount lens from Sigma or Panasonic work with the original T (typ 701) ?

I use the camera as a backup to my CL with the variety of TL lenses or adapted lenses. I might be looking into a Panasonic for high res-images. The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 is a favored lens I'm looking at, but there are others I might look at.

Please share your opinion - if you have used or owned both lenses or any opinion on the topic. Mostly interested in comparison of render, sharpness, bokeh, pop etc. according to you - digital sensor or film.

Early reports indicated the Hexanons were inferior. According to LHSA "some Hexanon early samples were reported to have focusing discrepancies, long since resolved, and that adversely affected initial sales. The current consensus: Konica KM and Leica M lenses, even those with longer focal lengths and wider apertures, can be used interchangeably on both cameras without problems." Lots of posts ot the tiny flange difference between the cameras, but here we discuss the lens.

Mr. Rockwell even went as far as comparing the build of Summicron 50 (V) to the Hexanon-M 50 side by side and they indeed look almost identical. Check the pic on his webpage under the Hexanon topic.
I have recently acquired a Hexanon-M 50/2 (photographed below on my M) and it is a stellar performer, slightly better wide open (especially corners) compared to Summicron M 50/2 (IV) in all the tests I did.
      YMMV.
