The 'Q' Out of focus Bokeh

More or less, I would call it out of focus.  ;) In general, bokeh is supposed to contrast with something sharp in the foreground.

Actually, I like the photograph as it is, the unsharpness is quite pleasing.

If you close down the lens, the bokeh starts to behave and won't do any surprises.

 

But some people have an issue with Q wide open; the bokeh can be downright ugly in certain situations. At the same time, the lens performs so beautifully so almost everyone is going to risk an occasional dud.

 

I think this is the worst I ever managed to capture -- cropped to show the gnarliness.
