Nothing like having a $17,000  setup you can’t take out in the rain🤣 Meanwhile Fuji shooters are standing in the pouring rain with a $2,500 setup and full weather sealing. At this point not sealing the M and the lenses is equivalent to Tesla and steering wheels falling off.

And before any M Fans throw out the Leicas are built like tanks, let me remind you, Film Leicas are built like tanks. Get an old M film Leica wet you ruin a roll of film, get a M11 wet with a digital sensor wet you know have a $10,000 bookend.

The first thing is not to overworry. Just use common  sense and avoid downpours, keep the camera under your coat or  umbrella, use it to  shoot  and cover up and wipe off excess water. They may not be a Leica XU, but they are not made of sugar either. My M digitals have been pretty wet from time to time over the years to the point of fogged up viewfinders and sensors I had to wipe dry, but nothing untoward happened.

I’ve been on this forum for nineteen years. The number of rain-bricked  digital Ms reported is zero. We have even seen dunked cameras survive without harm.

BTW, Fuji cameras are not IP rated so they are exactly as weather resistant as  a Leica M. Maybe the owners are less worried.

And at least Leica does have IP rated options for those who insist; up to IP 54 for the current SL2 platform. Fuji does not AFAIK.

IP54 - Protection from limited dust ingress. Protection against splashing water from any direction, tested for a minimum of 10 minutes with an oscillating spray (limited ingress permitted with no harmful effects).

I have my reservations about such a rating as any water ingress could quite simply be put down to conditions being worse than the tesed ones.

I don’t worry at all, but that’s also why I carry insurance for any circumstances outside warranty.
