Huawei / Leica Mate P20 or just P20

My current Sony phone will be three years old this summer and I have been eligible for an upgrade for ages but have held off.

I am not really a phone snapper and prefer to use a selection of Leicas from a V-Lux 3 to an M262. However, I have been following reviews of the Huawei phones and the Leica engineered cameras and when it comes to the camera the phones do appear to be the best around.

Buying one might actually get me to start taking photos with a phone and occasionally give me the opportunity to leave my camera bag at home. 😊

I had held off when the Huawei phones first appeared as the installed version of Android appeared to be clunky.

I probably will upgrade soon so the decision appears to be between the Mate P20 or the plain P20.

Anyone out there like to comment on experiences with these phones?

I recently bought the P20 for my granddaughter,
Which, carries the objectives of Leica.
Who carries better camera is the P20 Pro, Leica. The lite does not carry Leica's signature.
The Mates are bigger screen and for my granddaughter less manageable.
I have seen the images on the screen better on my Iphone 6, 128GB than on my granddaughter's P20, although this does not mean anything since the configuration of the screen of the phones could be different. The best test would be to print the photos in medium / large size.
