I kinda like this to cover the front screw or logo.

I find this whole taping-up thing completely paranoid..Thieves are ether after something they can sell, in which case any black box with a lens - and preferably many buttons- will do, or they are after specific brands, in which case they will recognize a Leica, tape or not,

The actual price of the gear is completely irrelevant. The question is what the fence will pay - and a Leica won't fetch much compared to any Canon.

I had a burglar in my house many years ago. I had a Nikon F4s and 180/50mm/24mm/ 85mm lenses upstairs in a 225 Billingham bag in the closet. and a Leica M6 titan, M6 traveler and a M6TTL black with 28,50,50,90, lenses standing on the bookshelf in my living room. They had plenty of time, because they opened al our drawers, and closets. Downstairs upstairs looking through all towels, underwear , shirts etc.ect to find things of value. They only took the Nikon-Billingham and the gold they found. They did not take the Leica stuff.....

Hi everybody!

I need your technical and procedural knowledge! J

I am a happy owner of a Leica M10.

During my travels I often have the camera around my neck and I like to go unnoticed without eyes that scrutinize the camera body ... I would like to remove the Leica red logo and replace it with a "screw" like in the Leica M10-P.

Do any of you know how kindly I can do and what is the best iter to follow?

Thank you for your support and have a nice day!

Gino

I don't think that covering the Leica badge with tape makes a lot of sense.

Personally, I'm 6'5", 250 lbs and a fourth degree blackbelt so I'm not too worried. I think thieves might look for an easier target.

The gun is mightier than the blackbelt.  Insure properly, give them the camera, live longer and buy a new camera.

Pete.

Rule #2: Avoid Leica's. They are hard to sell or fence and usually the numbers are known and registered.

The best way to avoid attention is to carry the camera in a paper  bag with a bottle of gin next to it and dress accordingly. Don't shave , change underwear or shower for a week or more.

I'm going to a *really* sketchy part of LA. Would it help to wet myself?

Right - if it gets stolen, you may still have the gin to get over the first hours of pain 😂

Hello S-A,

Probably not. But you might find it useful to bring some erasers. Personally, I prefer softer erasers when they are effective because they are less likely to damage the underlying material.

Best Regards,

Michael
