Flyer Posted January 24, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interested to hear which lenses you use and what you recommend in the 28mm/35mm range of M type Leica/Zeiss/Voightlander lenses Also has there been any development on any third party lenses working with the EOS adaptor? In the 24-70 range? Many Thanks Flyer
Advertisement Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Hi Flyer, Take a look here Which lens on you SL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
CharlesL Posted January 25, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2019 If you want biting sharp and vivid colors, put on a Summicron 35 aspherical. Welcome, dear visitor! If you want something variously called painterly, subdued, older style, and film-looking, put on a Summilux 35 pre-aspherical. Check eBay for adapters. The generic ones work fine. If you find none direct to SL, you can even stack an adapter that takes the lens to M-mount and then a generic M-to-L mount adapter.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! RoySmith Posted January 25, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2019 The Summilux-M 28mm is awesome on the SL. Sean Reid did a review of this lens but his website requires a subscription to read.
caissa Posted January 25, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2019 All 3 M 28mm lenses are very strong. And I also like the Sigma 2.0/24-35, and maybe they will also make it available in L-mount.
robgo2 Posted January 26, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2019 I often use a Summicron-M 35 f2 ASPH on my SL and think it is probably my all-time favorite 35mm lens (although the Summicron-R 35 f2 is close). I much prefer it to the highly regarded Zeiss ZM 35 f1.4. The Cron is really easy to focus with the camera's great EVF. I also own a Leica Q and cannot praise its Summilux 28 f1.7 too highly. That would be my recommendation if you are at all interested in a fixed lens single focal length camera.
thighslapper Posted January 27, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 27, 2019 The Zeiss 35/1.4 is one of the few M mount lenses I have kept for use on the SL. Performance is similar to the Summilux 35/1.4 but costs a whole lot less. The Novoflex EOS/NIK AF adapter is flaky and I'm afraid it's 'try before you buy' .... particularly with 3rd party lenses. As above, the 35/2 is excellent as well ..... but avoid the older versions as they are not so good on digital sensors.
