Afairall Posted January 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, all — I’m contemplating selling my Q and M9 to consolidate for a M10 and I wanted to get your advice. Have any of you had the same thought or even done so? For what it’s worth, I reach for the M9 more than the Q. Advertisement Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Hi Afairall, Take a look here Q + M9 for M10?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Lax Jought Posted January 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) I have been toying with the idea of selling my M9-P and M240 to buy a 2nd M10, possibly an M10-P. This way I can consolidate my batteries and camera/image performance. I do paid work sometimes and need the back up body, and quite often use both bodies with different lenses on them. What holds me back is that I love the M9-P and still take it out occassionally. And with the M240, the EVF is not compatible with the M10, and it's the only M that has video which I also use occassionally. Guest Posted January 22, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2019 after buying my M10, my Q was gathering dust so I sold it and bought an M9P along with a 35mm Summicron v1. The M9 feels somewhat clunky compared to the M10 but I love the files.
Dirk Mandeville Posted January 22, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2019 And I’m toying with the idea of selling my M9 and 28 elmarit to help finance purchase of a QP or, eventually, a Q2 to pair with my M10. 😂 We should all probably just have a Leica swap meet. For what it’s worth, knowing what I know from owning both an M9 and M10, I don’t think you would regret selling the two you have in order to acquire the M10. It is light years better than the M9 in most respects, in my opinion.
Lax Jought Posted January 22, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2019 Saw your post on reddit too. Would be good to see the responses you get there vs here.
Ashkanani1985 Posted January 22, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 22, 2019 I used the M10 for a year but if you really welling to sacrifice your m9 and Q than go with the M10-P, I just bought one and unfortunately did not do a lot of shooting with it as I had to send it to Wetzlar for some issues, But the new quiet shutter is deal breaker if you shoot street you will be completely unnoticed. the main reason I traded my M10 for M10-P is the red dot and quiet shutter, I get fed up from people stoping me in the street specially in NYC and asking about Leica and the shooting even in streets of NYC still people turn with the shutter sound so, its only 700 dollar more but believe me worth it. Silver -- only because that's the color of a used one at Leica NYC. I'd prefer black though. My Q sold in minutes for $3750 -- wish I had went a bit higher with the price.
Mr.Q Posted January 23, 2019 Share #10 Posted January 23, 2019 Bummer you had to sell the Q. It is the best digital Leica in my opinion.

I know, it’s a wonderful camera. I can only hope to one day acquire the magic of that Summilux 28mm for the M10.
don daniel Posted January 26, 2019 Share #12 Posted January 26, 2019 I have just sold my M10 with the Summicron 28mm, the Summilux 35mm and the Apo-Summicron 50mm. I have ordered a Leica Q and am looking forward to get one next week. 28mm is my favorite focal length for daily use. But in many situations I use Fujifilm cameras. Since I got glasses last year using 28mm on a rangefinder and manual focusing in general became a pain to me.
JazzyMac Posted January 31, 2019 Share #13 Posted January 31, 2019 I've always thought about selling my M9-P because it just sits, and I've even come so close a couple of times. But, I know the consequences of doing so: I purchased it brand new on a great sale. It was still expensive!!! Yikes! I won't be able to sell it for what I paid. Of course not! Leica's released 250 cameras since the M9-P. So I'll get a fraction of that; it won't be enough to purchase any camera, Summilux, never mind both. I'll eventually regret selling it. Or I won't regret it, but I'll be in GAS mode and gotta have a Leica. So that means coming out the pocket for whatever upgrade I decide: New or used. They'll still be expensive! And now I'll probably want two. And lenses. Might as well keep the M9-P until I'm definitely sure I'm ready.

don daniel Posted February 1, 2019 Share #15 Posted February 1, 2019 I have got it now. It's a very precise tool, a joy to use. I do not miss the M10. A friend of mine hast bought it with my Summilux 35 and it is the right camera for him.
Mr.Q Posted February 2, 2019 Share #16 Posted February 2, 2019 Yeah M cameras became a burden for me too ever since my eyesight deteriorated early last year. Focusing became the utmost priority and I realized that it took away from what matters more.... composition. As a result, my wife pointed out that my photography was the worst it's been in quite a while. So I decided to sell my M10 + lenses for a X1D. As a walk around camera the Q remains my favorite camera of all-time.
