Thaipusam With S007 and ?

I’m heading to KL tomorrow for a visa run. I just found out that Monday is the Hindu holiday  Thaipusam.

I once saw Eric Kim shoot it with a Hasselblad but seeing as my S gear is sitting in my home in KL I’m going to use that. I don’t want to take to much gear so I’m planning to take just my S007 and only one lens, either my 30, 70 or 120mm.

My gut feeling is I want to take my favorite lens the S120mm and just crank the Auto ISO up to 6400 with a minimum shutter speed of 1/500 (I have to shoot it hand held as tripods are not allowed).

its been a while since I’ve used my S gear but from what I can remember ISO6400 is about the max.......... does that sound about right.

I would rather bring the 70, but that depends a lot what and how you shoot. (It would allow you to come closer to the models than the 120)

I wish I had listened to you about the 70mm. The 120mm was a nightmare, hunting and hunting and then hunting some more. I now need to figure out how to get the pictures off the camera as I only have a CF card in the camera and no CF card reader....... hopefully some pictures to follow later

Should have use the S... too slow... M would be more appropriate. Also, maybe using MF will be better as you can pre-focus to get subject in frame.

Difficult to use my M10 as its in Phuket and the Indian festival is in Malaysia.

Ive used my S120mm many times and never has it hunted like it did this morning. Probably as it was pitch dark had something to do with it

Ya, can't rely on AF in this kind of dark situation.
