Leica CL EVF/LCD problem

Recommended Posts

I have the EVF/LCD set up for auto in the menu however only the EVF comes on when I raise it to my eyes. When I go back to the LCD the EVF stays on. I’ve taken out the battery and restarted the camera.  The only thing I have t tried is a complete camera reset

Any ideas ?

A common problem.

The ocular must be cleaned, especially the small sensor window on top. Clean it right up to the edges and remove any smearing.

I must put this one in the FAQ.

My CL just spent a month at Leica for this, the diagnosis was faulty/dirty sensor. Tried to keep it clean but just wasn't working. I think the micro brushes help more than a Q-Tip or glasses cleaning cloth, but got them too late. Before I sent it off there was basically no switching to the LCD, had progressively gotten worse even with trying to clean the sensor area. Camera is back and behaving.

I used an alcohol swab pushed into the corners with a cocktail stick

It shouldn't be cleaned too wet. Cleaning fluid penetrating the edges will make the problem worse.

That is probably what finally happened, but was having the problem for a while before Eclipse came pouring out while trying to get a drop.

Thanks
