An exhibit so compelling that I hope you can all see it.

On the waterfront in Wellington near the southern end of New Zealand's North Island, is the Te Papa Museum.  For the better part of a year they've had a thoroughly engrossing, well researched and terrifically presented extensive exhibit on the campaign in Gallipoli during WWI.  The exhibit is so engrossing that what was to be a temporary exhibit has been extended, and it might become a permanent exhibit.  Peter Jackson's Weta Workshop created 2 1/2 times life size models of several of the real participants in the campaign, and they alone are worth a visit.  If you go, try to avoid it if cruise ships are in harbor.  However, if they are, go when the museum opens, or after 1400 hours.  The officer in the first photo had been shot in his dominant hand, but he kept fighting bravely, shooting with his left hand.  A doctor is attending a wounded soldier in the second photo.  An ANZAC soldier pauses to eat canned corned beef and hardtack.

The doctor again, a machine gunner, and a nurse on a hospital ship anchored just off shore weeping while reading a last letter from one of the dead soldiers.
