This is my first post on this forum. I have purchased a secondhand Leica TL for about £500 and have tried many of my vintage lenses on it with varying degrees of success. I have just bought a new Zeiss 50mm Planar T f2 I’m delighted with this first results I’ll be interested if any other forum members  have any experience of other the manual lenses that worked particularly well on the TL. Results from the Zeiss lens on the TL have been so far fantastic.

Not the TL but often use vintage lenses on the CL and SL. Two of my favourites are my 1952 85mm/f1.5 Summarex and 1958 5cm/f1.5 Summarit. It is far easier focusing particularly the Summarex on either the CL and SL than on a Barnack other than the IIIg, which is noticeably better than other Barnacks. Here is one taken with the Summarex and SL before I had the lens serviced and cleaned. You had to be very careful of light direction to avoid veiling glare. The veiling glare and flare was considerably improved by the service but still have to be considerably more careful than modern designs. Both of these lenses are designs originating in the 1930's, long before computer light path analysis. Given that, it is amazing what a good job Leica did with these lenses.
