I just noticed this one on 5th Avenue. I suppose 6:15 AM is too early for there to be a queue. Welcome, dear visitor! Yes, you would have heard that from Bill Clinton's mouth. He most certainly did, however, inhale when smoking that cigar.
stuny Posted January 27, 2019 Author Share #14 Posted January 27, 2019 Pico - Our firm still has a mainframe for maintaining the books and records. It's 1978 technology (that's when the developing firm created it). Almost all of its programmers are Russian Immigrants since they are among the last still developing in COBOL. I like to say that if there were such a thing as intelligent design that system would not exist. Brent - Yes, that was my reference. My maternal grandfather used to go through a box of cigars every two or three days, and continually left the soggy stubs in the house plant, claiming it was good for them. At one point his doctor told him to quit or die, and unlike most smokers, that scared him into going cold turkey. He lived into his 83rd year, but if you were in close quarters with him (such as in his car) all his throat clearing and related noises would make my throat close over. FWIW, my last multiple CPU platform OS was Open VMS, a hugely secure OS and even at 72 years-old I can likely find a job resuming my 'antiquated' skills. Now, the crucial question is, were any of them in contact with the Trump campaign?

I spent 10 years with DEC, selling large VAX/VMS systems in the 80s and 90s. It was a really well thought out technology. Ernst
stuny Posted January 28, 2019 Author Share #18 Posted January 28, 2019 Ernst - That was good tech. The development firm of our system was not up to those standards.
