Hi,

Been trying to use the Leica Fotos app on my iphone XS Max.

I've downloaded the latest version of the app and also my M10 is running the latest 2.6.5.0.

For some reason, my iphone will NOT scan the QR code generated by my M10.

Has anybody else encountered a similar issue?

Thanks.

I assume that you do use the app to scan the code and not a separate QR scanner. (I know, an unlikely scenario...)

What are you using to scan the QR code? Supposed to be Leica FOTOS app itself.

Yes, I've attempted to scan the QR code through the Leica FOTOS app itself.

I think I might have found a solution... Will keep everyone posted.

I have two M10s and have no problems connecting my iPhone XS to either of them.

You can try deleting the Lecia Fotos app from your phone and reinstalling. That might fix your problem.

I have the Leica FOTOS app on my iPhone 8 and it won't connect with my M10. The Leica M app, which I presume does the same thing, is on the iPhone 8 and will connect with the M10. Now if I could only find a reason why I would ever want to use either app, I might be somewhat annoyed. It all smacks of a solution in pursuit of a problem to fix. All of this will become obsolete when computational cameras with communications ability become a reality a few years from now. By then they will all be based in phones anyway so the need to communicate will be gone. And CES will have replaced Photokina. A lot of the major camera companies are making announcements there this week with Lumix providing some computational type features in their forthcoming models.

I don’t know if CES will replace Photokina. It is just that it was cancelled this year.

Check the number of stands and announcements from the photo industry at CES this year. If Photokina survives, I suspect it will be in the form of a European version of CES. All of this was inevitable from the day that digital photography appeared. Leica L mount users may soon be able to utilise some computational features on LUMIX cameras. This is, however, only the beginning of a revolution and not the end. With its deals with Panasonic, Sigma and Huawei, Leica is well placed to take advantage of this, but its contribution will probably be more optical than electronic.

I should have mentioned above that the Leica FOTOS app does not work also on my other phone which is a Huawei P20, but I cannot find the motivation to follow up on this.

William,

I finally have my iphone connected to my M10. This wasn't done through the 'traditional' setup method.

As aforementioned in my post above, my iphone wouldn't scan the QR code shown on the display of the M10. So I've sent the Leica support a message through the Leica Foto app (sent them the serial number and the SSID, which goes like LeicaM10-xxxxxx), and they've sent me an alternative QR code via email reply.

My iphone picks up the alternative QR code immediately, and now once I turn on the M10's wifi and launch the Foto app, they are paired perfectly...

It seems like there is an issue with the QR code generated by some devices.

Hope this helps!
