ynp Posted January 5, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I bought a slightly used CL body from an expat in Bangkok. Over a cup of coffee he mentioned that he would not sell his TL35 and TL60 lenses, because he is expecting that Sigma will introduce an APS Foveon camera alongside the FF one in 2019. How realistic is that expectation? I remember reading that Sigma drops their less than full frame sensors and intends to introduce a FF camera this year. Advertisement Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Hi ynp, Take a look here New Sigma APS camera?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dau Posted January 5, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2019 An FF Foveon would be most difficult to use with M lenses, particularly ones with short focal lengths. An APS Foveon camera with an M mount would be quite another thing. I'd be sorely tempted by such an offering. Now that Sigma has become visible to Leica users, I think anything is possible.
jaapv Posted January 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2019 Why would they adopt the M mount? It is a legacy mount which offers no scope for electronic coupling. Sigma has never produced M mount lenses. Why would they start now, with no scope for things like AF and on-camera aperture control?
ynp Posted January 7, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted January 7, 2019 After reading about the Sigma newer camera, I see that they use the APS-H size sensor and I doubt that the TL lenses will cover that size of the sensor.
