firmware affecting lenses listed in profiles?

Newbie question, please:  In checking the firmware on my new M10, the slightly greyed-out line on the rear screen reads: 2.6.5.0  

Is this the most current?  Possibly related question:  I am interested, at some point, in acquiring the M 21mm 3.4 SEM lens and is NOT listed in the lens profiles with the firmware I now apparently have listed in the camera.

Yes, your firmware is current.  And the list of lens profiles includes all lenses that were manufactured early enough so that some of them do not have 6-bit coding.  The 21/3.4 SEM is newer so all of them have the coding applied and will be automatically recognized.

Scott is right, no lens that has been sold with 6-bit coding only (i.e. all lenses that came to the market after 2006) will be mentioned in the manual selection list, as the camera will recognize them automatically.

I think that those lenses which are all 6 bit coded from start

will not be mentioned in the manual selection list.

Thanks all. I would certainly appreciate any additional thoughts and opinions on comparative image quality among M mount w/a lenses (35-18mm).  

NOTE:  I don't anticipate a need for anything faster than a 1.4 aperture.
