Noticed this white colored quarter ring at the corner of the lcd screen. Initially i thought it was a washer that was below the screen but on closer inspection, it is not.

Is it a scratch during the manufacturimg process? But odd shape of a scratch.

Hopefully the img is clear.

M10 is less than a week old and it has not been knocked or anything similiar.

Looks to me like either:

1) The assembler got his/her shirttail caught in behind the LCD while attaching it, pulled hard, and left some behind ;)

or 2) more seriously, it might be overflow of adhesive for the leatherette, or sealant for the screen (weatherproofing) that is squishing out.

Sloppy, in any case.

If it were me, I'd probably address it with a knife tip, being very careful not to scratch the black parts, just to see if it is something that can be removed gently. But as I said, that is just me - once I get a Leica in my hands, I am loathe to send it back into the clutches of Leica.

The alternative, of course, (if new) is to have it replaced by the store with a flawless copy, or sent to Leica for correction. That clearly applies if it really is a scratch in the black-chrome top plate.

Inexcusable assembly muck-up. If you wish you can probably clean it out using a dental explorer. No need to buy the spendy versions. This kind will do.  I got a set at a farm supply shop.

Why Leica does not capture and fix is unfathomable.

Brought it back to the leica store, they could figure out what it was so sent to the service center. Couldnt tell for sure what it was, prob some glue-like substance. Couldnt completely remove it.

In the end, the store decided to give me a 1 for 1 exchange cos some new stock arrived.

I am fairly happy about the outcome but of course would rather not have had this issue.
