I was asked to come up with a couple of pics as illustrations for a children's book; obviously pics need to be 'colorful' so have been playing around a bit. Would appreciate feedback to get your views if this works?

It's nice, colorful and playful. Almost like a fairy tale.

You would have to know the story.
For what age?
Is this for the title picture?
Are all the other pictures always in style?
As an illustration, it may even be too rich in detail .... more artificially effective?

The intention is indeed to give it a fairy tale like flavor; at least that is what was asked for. I believe the book aims at 4 - 8 year old children; I know very little about the story itself.
