We tend to gravitate first to "more perfect" , more megapixel, sharper, more resolution etc...but after a while, when we go back to the aestethics  of photography, we realize that we don't need "better/sharper" etc...

True words. I, like so many here, think the same way. but when I look at other photo forums of Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Panasonic, there it's mainly about sharpness and nothing but the sharpness of a lens. This is propably the main difference of Leica and the rest of the photography communities.

The Collection, f1.5 MFD

Mhhh...my experience, its the same also in the Leica world with additional aspects of "Leica look" and "Leica is the best glass" (because they are way more expensive)... I had many different people seeing prints in A3 and depending in which group (brand) I have presented the prints, they all agreed it is their own brand. When  I said, no, it is Canon (in the Leica group) and vice versa...well, you can imagine the reactions. Its impossible to tell them apart also on film....this is my personal experience, I just share this and I think we should look more at the photograph instead of the brand...whatever you feel like using, its personal. it might change, like myself, nowadays I grab more my Canon EOS 30 (instead of Leica Ms), small, quiet, easy to use and wonderful canon glas. And the metering is amazing.

Enjoy...

Yet, before Leica I would never consider old lenses, as most of them are not really compatible with the latest gear.

Advantage of the M is that one has classic and super sharp lenses available. Therefore, to me, discussing about rendering, drawing, look or however one ones to call it makes very much sense as to me, it is as important (or even more) than sharpness.
