JulianHalliday Posted November 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm curious to know whether any other member has experience problems with their frameline selector lever. No, not functionality problems -- problems with the bloody thing simply falling off. It did that once, almost immediately after I received the camera; Leica kindly sent me a new lever and fastening screw. Since then, I've remembered to check the latter's tightness pretty much every time I pick the camera up -- which is tedious -- and it's always working loose. Leica recommends tightening with the rubber end of a pencil, but I suspect German radiergummis are more gummy than my (American) equivalent: mine get no purchase. I hesitate to utter the sacrilege that this is a design flaw, but it seems so to me. I'm not eager to put LocTite in my M10 (or, rather, I'm eager not to do any such thing), but I have unhappy memories of walking around with the hole on the body covered with blue gaffer tape and, subsequently, tape in place to immobilise the errant screw... So: Is this a unique experience, or are other users encountering it? Is there an effective fix? Thank you! Welcome, dear visitor! pico Posted November 16, 2018 Share #3 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Only because I'm of a generation which had to fix-it-ourselves I have accumulated some nifty tools. Among them are small face spanners. I suggest you get one and carefully torque the head screw down - not as much as you can because it would be too much. If it loosens again, a tiny-tiny dab of Loctite Blue, really tiny on the thread is warranted. Best of luck, Pico Edited November 16, 2018 by pico
JulianHalliday Posted November 17, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted November 17, 2018 Ah, thanks, Jeff -- did a search but failed to find anything. Probably using wrong search terms, though it's hard to think what else to look for. Pico, thanks -- I shall look for face spanners. I do worry about the LocTite, but (since you are a dog) I trust your judgement.

But blue Loctite Thread Lock is what you want although nail polish can work if you can tighten the screw down before it sets.
magixaxeman Posted November 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 17, 2018 A tiny drop of blue Loctite on the thread of the screw will cure the problem
