rnl Posted November 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently traveled out west and limited myself during one of the days to two lenses : 90 apo and a 35 FLE lux. This is one of the 90mm images. I am struck by the sharpness and contrast produced by this lens https://richardnlipow.com/grand-canyon 9

jrp Posted November 10, 2018 Share #3 Posted November 10, 2018 Yes. Limited by the atmosphere, in this case. It always surprises me how sharp it is. It has a little CA; in that respect the 75mm is a little better. (On the SL the 75 and 90mm Summicrons are a cut above still because they eliminate these aberrations, and so the pictures look cleaner still.) benqui Posted November 12, 2018 Share #11 Posted November 12, 2018 To me, the 90mm Apo is a killer lens! Razor sharp with a beautiful bokeh. Especially for portraits, it is by far my favorite lens. 35 and 90mm is a very good travel combination

carbon_dragon Posted November 14, 2018 Share #16 Posted November 14, 2018 Great pictures, but it’s pretty big and heavy, isn’t it? Compared to maybe the 50/2 or 35/2 Chrome summicrons? Did it feel like a monster? I used to carry the 135/2.8 with goggles with me but it is just such a heavy lens. Hard to tell how big this is from the photos online. Sure does a good job though. lct Posted November 15, 2018 Share #17 Posted November 15, 2018 What is quite heavy is sharpening in PP here if you ask me . Just kidding. More seriously, the 90/2 apo is indeed bulky (78 x 64mm, 500g) compared to other M lenses but less so than the Elmarit 135/2.8 (114 x 66mm, 735g) by a significant margin. rnl Posted November 15, 2018 Author Share #18 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) Actually very little sharpening. Yes it’s bulky but then again my go to camera is a canon 1dx mark ii My 90 Tele Elmarit is actually easier to travel with but not as accurate Edited November 15, 2018 by rnl
rnl Posted November 17, 2018 Author Share #19 Posted November 17, 2018 90mmAPO taken with M10, 1/15, f4, iso 3200 on tripod this lens is remarkable. Wouldn't attempt a slow exposure unless he was asleep. Welcome, dear visitor!
