Focus Peaking on SL

Recommended Posts

I have had a CL for over a year now and just got a SL. The focus peaking on the SL has a "sensitivity" option which the CL doesn't have. I have looked at the owners manual and it doesn't describe what the sensitivity setting does with respect to focus peaking. Can anyone explain please.

....... errr .... makes it more or less sensitive.....

it's based on contrast detection like the AF to establish which parts of the image are acceptably sharp ....... so high presumably sets a low threshold and shows peaking in poorer lighting conditions.

all you can do is experiment with the settings and see what the differences are for the particular lens you are using and the circumstances.

to be honest in nearly 3 years of use it's one setting I have never changed..... and is yet another option that I suspect Leica included more because of 'user demand' rather than actual need.

Thanks so the sensitivity is based on light quality or focus quality or both?

On my experience, higher sensitivity enhances the possibility to show the plane of focus on a relatively flat / low contrast scene.
