stuny Posted October 29, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2018 Very nice. It almost makes me think of some small zongs in Bhutan.
HighlandK Posted October 29, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 29, 2018 Thanks Stuart. I guess there is always a similarity when man builds with local materials in remote locations. This was in a fairly remote Swiss valley. I am used to seeing staddle stones supporting barns and granaries in UK but they are usually all stone and just lift the building clear of the ground. Here there is a timber under-storey forming sheltered storage for fuel and the stones are on wooden posts.
M11 for me Posted October 29, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) The stony discs are meant against mice climbing up into the house or into the barn. Edited October 29, 2018 by Alex U. 1

M11 for me Posted October 29, 2018 Share #6 Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) No. No rats. Just mice. 💪 Note that Switzerland is very small. Edited October 29, 2018 by Alex U. 4
abrewer Posted November 8, 2018 Share #7 Posted November 8, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) A thought-provoking photograph. I had the same questions about the stones as well. My inclination was toward better ventilation of the wooden floor of the top structure in order to prevent wood rot.
war Posted November 19, 2018 Share #8 Posted November 19, 2018 The rich wood colors in this and your Swiss door photos posted elsewhere are just beautiful. I presume these were done with the Q.

It's my first and only Leica - just love it and it complements my D850 so well as the lightweight go anywhere camera. I had wanted a compact fixed lens full frame and wondered about the Sony but everything eventually pointed to the Q. No regrets!
