In the USA, their reputation is superb.

Good to know and interesting. Again the face to the customer seems important. Not sure what model they run but it seems the CH management can learn a bit from the US. It is actually rare you see five one-stars, so maybe there really is something to follow up on.

“Should not”? Hmm.

Well, that is as good as we can ask for.  They didn’t think the original would fail, based upon the knowledge gained from that failure and the M9 failures they redesigned the sensor.

Who knows if there is a new bug to be discovered years from now?

But at least in the present we know that Leica did indeed replace the sensor with something new.

I got the official word from Leica:

“The replacement CCD sensors should not corrode.”

Your answer is very similar to the one I received from Leica NJ at the end of September:

"I cannot confirm the new sensor is not subject to corrosion."

I wonder if it is a difference in when the sensor was changed.

Mine was replaced in 2014

My Q: Also to clarify, is the 2014 sensor similar to my M9-corrosion resistant sensor?  Or is the 2014 sensor still at risk for corrosion and similar to the original S006 sensor?

Leica NJ A: The replacement CCD sensors should not corrode.
