Viewfinder strange glow

Can we assume it's not fingerprint grease on the front or rear surfaces?

Does it look humid inside the viewfinder?  You might have gone into a hot room striaight from the cold outdoors, triggering condensation that creates the reflections.

Good point. If the haze appeared suddenly, it might disappear as quickly.
