Leica D.R.P. #46653 History and value

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Forum !

It is a very old Leica I - can be dated to 1930 - with a much later lens (1948) : we do not make evaluations, but one can rather easily find the mean prices of items like those : on ebay, specialized shops or auctions sites (or look also at http://collectiblend.com/Cameras/ )

Anyway :

- The lens is rather common, but if in very good conditions is still an appealing collectors' item : many available in the market, for example, this is one rather close to yours : https://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/Leica-Leitz-Summitar-Screw-Mount-Lens-50-mm-1-2-S-N-604031-Sold-as-Wetzlar/283201151968?hash=item41f01aa3e0:g:Ne0AAOSwHctbu~wF:rk:3:pf:0

- The body is worth to be inspected… it could be both original or factory-converted to a later model (post a picture of it if you like to have some more details) : for Leica bodies of similar age the conditions do command the market evaluation… but keep in mind that a very old original Leica is ALWAYS a valuable item, though in a rather wide range;  is there some accessory like case, filters, documents/boxes etc...?

It would be worth checking to see if your Leica has been "standardised" by Leica, so that it will focus correctly with all lenses made from mid 1931 onwards. The earlier cameras had to have each lens adjusted to the individual body, which is why you will see a small window in the middle of the back of the body. Usually if Leica did the standardisation, they engraved a "0" at the top of the lens mount on the camera.
