You likely know it - but for best quality/malleable files, use ISO 50 whenever possible (like the examples you show). If ISO 50 doesn't work, skip ISO 100 and go to ISO 200 or up, avoiding ISO 100. The reason for the latter is discussed (for instance) here.

Rob, indeed I am pleased with the IQ.

It is another option to get a Leica 35 lens that works well on the SL.

But  would not know if this is better than SL prime 35 Cron that is  to come.

Congratulations, Benedict!  Glad that you are pleased.

Rob

S120 on the SL601

Hi Rob,

Nice sharing.

My personal preference is for the rendering of the 120 compared to the 70.

You mention earlier and I have same experience: the S 35 /2.5 lens on the SL do hunt more than SL 50 /1.4 lens (Still OK to me for still shots).

And you also said S 120 /2.5 is more prone to hunt.

For 35 /2.5, I found it can focus faster if I use spot focus by touch screen.

Perhaps this method will help in S 120?

Benedict

Benedict: I think the issue with the S120 is that it is also a macro lens so its got 'a long ways to go' to get focus at times. The AF is not as fast as with the SL lenses, but very usable on all of the S lenses.  (I'll try the spot focus). I'm very contented with all of the S lenses on the SL. As for the S70, it is the more compact than the others, but I would not disagree that the S 120 is pretty spectacular.

Thanks. Rob
