Lukas63 Posted September 26, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey there, new guy, already with a problem I could not find an answer online so far, and it makes me lose my hair worried. Got a Leica Q, used no warranty... nfortunately that was all I could afford, and really wanted one. After enjoying it for a while, I noticed a weird "scratch" on every photo, so the question is, what is it, how bad is it, or perhaps if something can be done about it? I've uploaded full size files here, and marked the spot https://www.dropbox.com/sh/re49ynhdsin9u2n/AACyaSwN33KTMRfcRPa452Xua?dl=0 Any ideas? Advertisement Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Hi Lukas63, Take a look here Weird scratch (?) on sensor. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 26, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2018 That is indeed weird - it looks like the sensor corrosion on the M9, to which the Q is certainly not susceptible. Send it in to Leica (Wetzlar!!) , there is a chance that the repair might be courtesy.
Leica Guy Posted September 26, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2018 I agree. Send it in to Leica. I’ve never seen any posting with anything close to that kind of artifact on a Q. At least it is very consistent and easy to demonstrate.
Lukas63 Posted September 26, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted September 26, 2018 Hey, thank you for your input, it sounds promising, although I've been told by the guy who sold it to me that I can get my money back if there's anything wrong with the cam. Now I wonder, should I investigate further or just get the money back and look for another seller. I've got it cheaper than they usually go for (around 2500 Euro). Do you think it would make more sense just to give it back to the seller or it's worth keeping and fixing this weirdness?
earleygallery Posted September 26, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2018 Send it back and look for another. I was going to say it's a hair on the sensor but it looks like something more serious. It's a big gamble to keep the camera and be the laboratory dog for Leica's quality control dept. Send it back and get your money back - assuming the seller means it!
Guest Posted September 27, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2018 I'd get a refund too.....the Q can be expensive to repair (in my experience) although as Jappv says, Leica can sometimes be surprisingly generous

Lukas63 Posted September 27, 2018 Author Share #9 Posted September 27, 2018 I met the guy today and got the money back. Thank god for a honest seller. Thank you everybody! Hope to be back here with another one soon, this time with no problems )
HighlandK Posted September 27, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 27, 2018 Best of luck. For my money it’s worth paying a bit more for a guarantee but fortunately you found an homest private seller. One can get too cynical and it is always refreshing to hear such stories.
