Unfortunately my iso dial is not working anymore and is stuck on iso 800, again I upgraded from a mp240 to the M10 because It had a sticky Shutter button and now again, more problems,  I am Sick of this shit as my cameras spend more time being fixed than I get to use them.,

I love Leica but I think Im done,  as Its just problem after problem.

The outer dial becomes uncoupled from the inner mechanism that sets the ISO. I've seen a couple reports of it, but it appears to be uncommon. It's an unfortunate design, in that there's no other way to set the ISO (unless you're lucky enough to have the final fail when it's set to M).

The dial looks nice, but I prefer the M240 way of seeing ISO.

Can’t you still set ISO in the menu?

Unfortunately,  I cannot change anything, its stuck on iso 800, Im not novice  being a photojournalist  I have used  the M system for years, Im done with it , its going to be another 3 months in for service which sucks as, I have assignments in India etc.

Im done with Leica its to much, I have never had this shit with another body, Sony, Nikon, etc

Don't worry, it doesn't take 3 months, mine gone and came back in less than 2 weeks. Contact with Leica Wetzlar and they are pretty quick with this issue.

(PS Im in UK, it might take slightly longer if you are really far away but it's all down to UPS and how quickly they deliver to Wetzlar, mine stayed 4 days in total at Wetzlar and the rest, on the way waiting to be shipped etc)

Also ask for a temporary loan equipment, if you are lucky they might have one

I am not going to defend Leica service or QC, i am going to suggest you take sensible view how to proceed.

If you have assignment ahead of you and no back-up camera 800 ISO is better than being stuck at 6400 or even 100. You still have usable ISO Settings to work with. Once you finish the asignment vent your anger. While you go through well stocked airport duty free buy yourself Nikon D3500 with kit zoom lens, it will cost you few hundred bucks/ponuda/euro and probably prove to be reliable companion.

I learned this lesson the hard way as well. 2 years ago I had to send my M-240 in for service. It was gone for 2 months and it was my only Camera body. It was then that I realized that I had to have a spare Leica to keep working as I only have Leica lenses. I decided to buy a 2nd M body and now I always have a spare. There is no other way to go if you are working a lot and also love Leica. It is a tad costly, but in reality, it is prudent for any photographer to have a spare body or back up camera system as ANYTHING can happen to any camera, including accidents that might cause any Brand of camera to have to be sent off for repair. Just my .02.

Not true.  ISO can be set in the menu.

With my M10, ISO setting in MENU is available only when the ISO wheel is set to M .

So I think if the ISO "wheel stuck on 800 ISO", Menu setting can be set but not in use.

Here the trouble is like the ISO wheel is set on 800 whichever it's position setting (of the wheel).

Any working / professional should have at least two bodies of whatever camera system they use. This probably applies to this digital age more so than in the days of film only..........But I've personally never gone on a job with just one camera body whether, ( my pro' life ), thats been Nikon, Hassie, Pentax or yes Leica.

I know this is of little comfort to you and honestly I understand your frustration, but as much as I love the M system and have used it since the early M2-M3 days in all it's iterations I cannot recommend or use the digital Ms for much of my pro' work these days. I've been bitten too by that.

As I said, I love it but I can't allow myself to totally rely on it.

Make a lot of noise with Leica CS, and good luck with that, I hope you get a swift resolution.

But you still shouldn't need to wait so long for repairs, Canon CPS 3-4 days including posting, on the other hand there are not many working photographers who only use one body as much as I like my Leica I would never rely on it as my main work camera.

I know the feeling. I have had things go back and forth to Leica several times a year during my ownership.
Then again I have also bought and sold a lot of lenses and cameras in the last 5-6 years.

My film MP (bought brand new) had to be sent back 4 times before it worked properly. Leica had to replace the entire rangefinder unit. It took a year in total. And that is a simple mechanical film camera... I usually prefer to sell my digital Leica's as the warranty expires, cause the service is insanely pricey and slow once you have to start paying for it.

I also preferred the M240's and M9's way of changing ISO. The M10's ISO dial just slows me down, and makes me have to change my grip on the camera to adjust the ISO. It feels awkward. With the M240 I could change the ISO significantly faster, without altering my grip on the camera too much. Hold the ISO button and use the scroll wheel - done. So the ISO dial is a novel oldschool feature, but in regards to ergonomics and functionality, it was a step back.

My error! Thank you for the correction.

On mine the menu allows changes but they do not take effect. Perhaps it would be good for the menu option to be greyed-out except when in M.

Sorry to hear the OP’s troubles, hopefully they can turn it around in reasonable time.

My M10 will have to go in to have the vertical orientation fixed once Leica comes up with a solution. I’m also ready to pay for the shutter upgrade now, not next year which is when those upgrades will start.

The camera that will temporarily take over the role of my M10 will not be another $7,300 Leica M10 body but a Nikon Z6 which is part of a truly professional camera system that by and large has served me flawlessly for nearly 40 years.

Most pros I know who use Leica in their work like I do don’t rely on Leica as their primary system because of lack of pro support. Several of us use a sole M body with a fast 35 on it as a kind of “Special Ops” role since what a Leica M can or can’t do is pretty pronounced to begin with.

While I really enjoy using my Leica equipment in paid and personal roles, I have learned over the years to never make it my first draft pick as the lack of pro support alone makes it too risky and unnerving a proposition on paid jobs.
