In my Leica Digilux 2 (no. 3011708) a power supply distributor is defective. The BD9730KV. This does not provide enough voltage!
Is there someone who has experience with this? There is nothing left at Leica. I am sure that it may still be available in China! But yes, is this the right one?
Is there anyone who can fix this? Or does anyone know who could do this?

Can you buy that part? Can you open up the camera and try to fit the new part?

The D2 was made by Panasonic, I'd try contacting one of their repair centres with your information about the problem and see what they say. Leica won't touch it but then I think they sent repair work out to Panasonic anyway (I was at one of the Panasonic facilities some years ago and saw Leica cameras in their service dept.).

OK

Camtech from Leica and TechRepeiar from Panasonic can not do anything for me anymore.  Too bad !!!

Maybe there is someone, or someone knows with a faulty DG2! Maybe we can make 1 of 2 defective cameras 1 good?

This is a long-shot. Search the forum for a most interesting thread by a real technical expert in UK who showed, step by step, how to dismantle a D2 to its component parts. Can;t remember his name, but his approach was quite forensic. Highly respected and expert. Perhaps some older members can add to my vague memory. His documentation would help you replace a component.

Will these help ? :-

The following company seem to specialise in replacement screens but may be able to repair D2 themselves, or know of others who could repair your D2

Good luck !

In response to David's post #8 above, and I am one of those 'old time' members ;-)  - Mark Norton was the brave soul who disassembled the Digilux 2. I am quite certain a search of this forum will find the posts.

There are also numerous videos available on line describing the process. The most difficult task will be obtaining the part....

Good luck,

Jan

Hi, Jan,

The thread "Anatomy of the Leica Digilux 2" was posted at 06.41 GMT on March 19th 2006 by Mark Norton.  I had saved the thread as a 3-part htm file complete with photos - it is eerie to see the old, old, old forum again.  The breadcrumb informs me that it was in Leica forum > Digital Forum and it had been archived to:

Archive through 24 March 2006 > Anatomy of a Digilux 2 > Archive through March 19, 2006.

When I click on the live "Leica Forum" or "Digital Forum" links it takes me to the front page of the current Leica website so it must have been when the forum was hosted on the original Leica website and the archive is lost.  Metasearch engines like Dogpile find very little as does Google.

Searching today's forum website finds Mark Norton's M8 disassembly thread but not his Digilux 2 disassembly thread.

Pete.
