M7 - CLA questions

My M7’s framelines are stuck at the 35/135 variation, regardless of me changing lens or wiggling the preview lever. So I guess after 18 years since new, its lubricants have gummed up, meaning a CLA.

I can easily get to Leica Mayfair, but before I head there, I wanted to arm myself with any info on how these things can be resolved.

1) will they typically suggest a full CLA, or just a repair to fix the broken frame lines?

2) any idea on price for services above, respectively?

3) I have the earliest version of the M7, so the focus patch flares (unlike the later ones when they fixed it). I assume I also have the original DX reader (ie, non optical version). How does Leica treat these 2 things - are they separate “repairs”; or do they get rolled into a CLA?; is the DX reader upgrade for free?

4) will they typically repair the leather cover too as part of a CLA? .....mine apparently didn’t have enough of the correct glue on it, given its edges have lifted along the front of the body!!

Many thanks for any help.

Jon, I can't answer all your questions but, in my experience:

1) Leica at Mayfair won't suggest anything other than sending the camera off to Wetzlar for an evaluation and repair estimate. Wetzlar will likely insist on a full CLA at around €800 plus VAT.

3) DX reader upgrade was free as recently as early 2017 when they did mine. I believe it is still free (though the recent discontinuation of the M7 as a new camera may mean a change in policy?).

I had the DX reader changed for free on my M7, but that was years ago. When I had the reader done, they inspected the whole camera at the same time, but it didn't need any adjustment.

You probably won't get the MP viewfinder upgrade unless you ask/pay for it, but they are often pretty good at repairing dodgy leather coverings and the like.
