SMAL Posted September 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, I own an M10 for pretty much two weeks now and the last few days I feel like no matter how perfectly I align the vertical lines the horizontal ones give me a ghost image. Which makes it way harder to focus. I know this can be adjusted quick, but is it possible that it misalignt in a period of just two weeks? Or did I simply not recognized since I am new the rangefinder system? Is this a common issue? Thanks!

lucerne Posted September 20, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2018 (edited) Could it be that your eyesight is not 100% and is introducing an anomaly. The viewfinder system incorporates 0.5 diopter. You may require additional adjustment by adding a screw-in correction lens which leica dealers supply in different diopter sizes in the range +3 to -3. To discover which correction value you need you could either try each one at your dealer, or else visit an optician with your camera and ask them to allow you to do a trial and error experiment with their lenses placed in front of the viewfinder. Do a search for “diopter” on the this forum. Plenty of advice available. Note that the diopter lenses sold by leica differ in diameter between the M10, and previous models. Adaptors to use the previous lenses on the M10 are available but the best solution is to get the M10 version. Hope that helps. SMAL Posted September 20, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted September 20, 2018 I am sitting at the Leica Store right now and wait for the M10 to be adjusted. They saw the misalignment immediately. It’s not much but enough to make focusing pretty tough. My eyesight has been tested a few month back and I had 120% on both eyes.
SMAL Posted September 20, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted September 20, 2018 It’s back to perfect again. Sadly they scratched the red dot and had no new ones in stock. Now I think about getting an original new or a black one for my black m10. What are you guys using?

You are lucky, it is rare to get such service over the counter, usual procedure is to send camera/lens for fix to Germany.

SMAL Posted September 21, 2018 Author Share #11 Posted September 21, 2018 Credits to your dealer, many others would shrug shoulders and pack it to Wetzlar. That’s why they got a 5 Star review asap. Pico, afaik there is only a whole behind the logo on the M10 and the screen is a little hidden. They also mounted the scratched Logo back on.
