Date on exterior box

Friends, I just took possession of a new S007. I noticed that the exterior box had a date in February of this year and am curious as to its significance. It is on the same label with bar code information, article number, etc.

Thanks

David

If you have a capable phone it can read bar codes and QR codes.

Serious answer, I'm sure this was discussed before - someone noticed their new TL lens had a date on the box from several years prior. I understand that it is simply the date the goods were packaged - pretty much the same as manufactured date or more accurately product assembly date (bearing in mind that the components could be manufactured some time prior).

Some items, like TL lenses mentioned above, are made in batches. Hence why a new lens may have been packaged several years ago and sat in the warehouse or dealers shelves since. A new batch will be scheduled when stocks are predicted to be running out.

If that is the case, and it makes sense that it is, then Leica was still making S 007 bodies in February of this year.

I probably has been manufactured secretly more than five years back  :p

Congratulations on the James Bond Edition!

probably not...but did you see the QC card in the box ? that should have the date of the Quality control check..that's possibly closer to the date of manufacture

Good call. Same date on box and QC card. Looks like the camera was made in February of this year. Would be interesting to know how close to the end of the model run this one is.
