Peterlubon Posted September 11, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have opportunity to buy M6 (early wetzlar version) for around £800 and it's in very good overall condition. My only concern is separation in viewfinder. Any ideas regarding fixing this issue (see photo). Is it still worth it even with this separation? Welcome, dear visitor! M9reno Posted September 11, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2018 It will cost you more to re-cement the viewfinder, or to find a donor, than just to buy an M6 without this problem.
Peterlubon Posted September 11, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted September 11, 2018 So I guess I should pass on this one? I assume it will gradually get worse?
M9reno Posted September 11, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2018 It certainly looks like it might get worse, and it looks bad as it is... I would pass.
Gregm61 Posted September 12, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2018 Too many M6’s out there to settle on one like this. I did have my M6 finder converted to the MP type by Youxin Ye to gain multi-coated optics and lose the flare-out issue in the rangefinder patch, but that would be another up-front expense for you and I’m not sure if the afflicted parts here are among those replaced in the comversion. Gregm61 Posted September 12, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2018 That also looks maybe like one of those early metal finder eyepieces that would scratch mu glasses, later replaced with a better rubber option.
