Tomaxelson Posted September 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I’m a first time user of a Leica M10 and already having a problem shooting in continuous mode. When taking a photo, the camera continuously taking photo shoots until buffert memory is full, every single time. It’s a bit frustrating since I’d like the camera to stop shooting when I release the shutter button. If I recall correctly, the shoots fired in continuous mode should be controllable no? Is there a camera setting or a special technique I’ve missed out on controlling how many pictures taken in continuous mode? Is it perhaps a bug in my firmware or is this perhaps normal? //confused guy

250swb Posted September 9, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2018 Are you sure you haven't got it set to 'Interval'.
Tomaxelson Posted September 9, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted September 9, 2018 Are you sure you haven't got it set to 'Interval'. Yes I'm positive. Doesn't matter if using "Low" or "High" continuous mode, the camera still fires 25-30 shoots every time.
SMAL Posted September 9, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2018 Could you photograph your camera settings form the back of your camera. My M10 doesn´t behave like that.
pico Posted September 9, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2018 Small point - Are you using a soft release (softie) or a cable release?
Tomaxelson Posted September 9, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted September 9, 2018 Small point - Are you using a soft release (softie) or a cable release? Hi Pico, neither one I'm afraid. I have tried to double tap, holding and releasing shutter hoping to find a way to stop firing shoots in continuous mode, but without luck. The camera just keeps firing until buffert memory is full, about 25-30 pictures in each sequence.
pico Posted September 9, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Tom, you have probably done everything, but just to be sure I would restore the camera to original factory settings, turn it off, remove and reinsert the battery and replace the firmware to 2.4.5.0. Frustrating! I would be disappointed but not surprised if it turns out to be a mechanical switch problem. lucerne Posted September 9, 2018 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2018 Yes I'm positive. Doesn't matter if using "Low" or "High" continuous mode, the camera still fires 25-30 shoots every time. I’ve been unable to find any obvious menu combination that recreates your problem. However, I can’t find any option for low or high continuous mode. I had that on my M9. Am I missing something? Are you definitely asking about an M10?
SMAL Posted September 9, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2018 On the newest firmware of the M10 (2.4.5.0) yo can choose between a low (3fps) and a high (5fps) continuous mode.
lucerne Posted September 9, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 9, 2018 (edited) I’ve been caught out. I must install the latest firmware. Thanks SMAL. And thanks Tomaxelson Edited September 9, 2018 by lucerne

Whether 3fps or 5fps continuous mode, can you confirm when releasing the shutter, your camera stops instead of continuing taking shoots until buffert memory is full? Tomaxelson Posted September 9, 2018 Author Share #12 Posted September 9, 2018 I’ve been unable to find any obvious menu combination that recreates your problem. I understand it might sound strange, and I'm a bit surprised as well. On the m10, there are two modes in "continuous mode" with the latest firmware update, one mode taking 3fps and the other 5fps. The problem I'm having is when taking shoots in either of the modes, I can't control the shoots fired, the camera doesn't stop shooting when I release the shutter, instead my camera continues taking pictures until whole buffer memory is full. I just want to make sure no one else is having the same problem before calling Leica support.
adan Posted September 9, 2018 Share #13 Posted September 9, 2018 Normal M10 function is to cease taking pictures when the shutter button is released - something is abnormal about yours unless as mentioned, you have gotten into the intervalometer/timed-released mode. It has been known in previous digiLeicas for some shutter buttons to be sticky or jam - mechanical roughness of the silver button sliding within its "tube" causing friction in either pressing, or returning to "up" after pressing. You might just check that the button is popping back up fully when you take your finger off it. It might just be possible to clear such a jam yourself (dust? breadcrumb?) if that is happening. Otherwise, it is probably the microswitch under the button that is sticking, mechanically or electronically (a short), which will require a trip to Leica.
SMAL Posted September 9, 2018 Share #14 Posted September 9, 2018 Whether 3fps or 5fps continuous mode, can you confirm when releasing the shutter, your camera stops instead of continuing taking shoots until buffert memory is full? Yes, absolutely. For me it also sounds as if you are in some kind of intervallometer mode.
Gobert Posted September 9, 2018 Share #15 Posted September 9, 2018 May be you have discovered an “hidden” option?
