wattsy Posted September 1, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2018 (edited) Hi guys, Does anyone know why the Elpro 52 doesn’t “support” the 90/4 Macro-Elmar-M according to the published list of compatible lenses? It might be that the lens vignettes with a 39>52 step-up ring and the Elpro 52 fitted. I know that I've had vignetting when I've fitted a 39mm filter and the little screw-in metal lens hood for the 50 Elmar-M on to the Macro-Elmar-M. paulsydaus Posted September 8, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted September 8, 2018 (edited) Hi guys, I’m relatively new to Macro and it’s not something I will be doing often but my partner is very interested. I picked up the Elpro and so far tried it with the 135 APO (see example) and once or twice with the 75 APO. I will be trying more lenses once I get the 39mm step down ring. Initial impressions are positive. I definitely think you’ll need to add a bit of sharpness in post but results do seem better than with the Leica extension tube adapter because of the higher magnification on offer (and it’s a lot cheaper)... DOF on the 135 seems too shallow for many practical uses and from one or two tries with the 75 although not getting quite as close results looked to provide a much better overall solution. Based on that I’m now curious to try the 50 APO. One question I have is about focus setting. I read somewhere I should be setting the lens to infinity. Is that true and if so why is that? It seems a little counter interactive to me as a beginner...? I thought about buying a cheap filter to protect the front of the Elpro given I will be pointing it pretty close to a lot of sharp objects but the front element protrudes quite a bit and I’m not sure if a 52mm filter won’t contact the glass? Thanks! Paul Edited September 8, 2018 by paulsydaus

rainer-sw Posted September 8, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 8, 2018 Many questions ans my bad english.... Okay, the 90 mm makro is variable in the length with a small Tubus. I think the Elpro is too heavy for that. For 1:1 Makro you would Need 135mm Extension Tubes on the 135 lens. So this is only good with wide Angel lenses. I use a 50 mm for my Elpro and It Works Fine. I Do not use any filters except Polar or ND. Greets from Germany Rainer My IPad is speaking German and makes the most faults.
