Just got my 1992 35mm Summilux v2 back from Don at DAG who completed a CLA and 6-bit coding of the lens. I missed it.

A little wet in Tewkesbury.... Tewkesbury Abbey sitting dry during the floods - The Normans knew their geography and where to build their churches.

Taken this afternoon (15 Jan 2023) - M10 35 pre-asph lux

In colour or black and white (as per the late Ted Grant's preference)

Really nice portrait!

Did the neg get scratched because I see a horizontal line halfway through the photo near eye-level.

Thanks I enjoyed this portrait and glad I used the 35.   Yes! Unfortunately I've noticed some of my vacation photos have the same line - I am going to go through all the shots and see how many have the line.   Because I was travelling I think it's probably some debris that got into some of the film or in the camera. I hope so anyway, rather than a fault in the camera.  Everything seems fine now

This probably has been asked before, but do all versions of the 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH (steel rim, v2, titanium) all flare the same way?

No, it’s thought that as the versions changed (and presumably coatings changed), these lenses exhibit less flare.  In my experience of comparing these lenses side by side - with those improvements come also less glow and more contrast as you move along the versions.

FWIW, Titan variant having the most contrast , and noticeably more apparent sharpness.  Oddly, even more so than the German copies despite being produced in the same years. (One would think it was same glass coatings in a different barrel but that doesn’t appear to be the case from my tests - perhaps because the Titan was introduced later/last)

So, variants being:

v1 Steel Rim

v2 Canada

v2 Germany

v2 Titanium

Bare in mind if serviced and adjusted properly these are all plenty sharp enough even at 1.4 , and all observations above are from testing / pixcel peeping...

IMHO the sharpness differences are irrelevant for real world photography but the other differences could be worth baring in mind depending on preference.
